***END UPDATE!***

Holly Daze, Quest Craze

Welcome to another action packed episode of Yavn Speaks! Are ya ready for the holidays? Have you started your shopping yet? I'm not talking about at the local department store for Mom and Dad, I'm talking about in VMK! For example, today you can purchase a very cool holiday themed skeleton as well as some of your favorites from last year!

YavnSpeaks-2006-12-04-xmasskeleton.jpg

Shiver me timbers! No seriously, it's really cold out here!

Are you a fan of Disney's Santa Clause movies? We have a brand new in-game Quest where you can win the tasty Cookie Tree! To make it easier, most of the questions are from the first two movies, so get out those DVDs and start watching!

YavnSpeaks-2006-12-04-candytree.jpg

Ummm… Money doesn't grow on trees, but thankfully candy does…

Did you guys see the Disneyland Holiday Quest launched last week? You've got all of December to play, but when January 1 rolls around, just like Santa, it will be gone - so get to the Park and complete that Quest! And no we haven't forgotten our friends at Walt Disney World - that Quest should be live by early next week (in fact, I'm here in Walt Disney World right now putting the finishing touches on it!).

So what rewards will you get for you Holiday Questing? How about a nice Decorative Holiday Wreath to decorate your room? Or maybe a Holiday Toy Solider to guard your room of presents? If you visit Disneyland to complete the Quest you'll also get a Golden Snowman (if you correctly answer all the Quest questions), while at Walt Disney World, you'll get a white Decorative Snowman. Yes, these are the same prizes from last year - we brought them back by popular demand.

The Holiday Toy Soldier is 1 of 3 holiday cards that you can receive by correctly completing the Holiday Quest

What Quests lie in your future? Well, we're hard at work on new Quests and I think we've got some pretty cool things planned, including an all new in-park Quest for both coasts that should launch early next year! But wait, there's more - we're also updating the rewards for completing multiple Park Quests. ;-) I'll have more information to share with you soon, but I think you will be very pleased to see what we have in store for the Series 3 Reward Cards.

It's been a few weeks since I've answered any of your Questions... so what do you say we take a look in…

Yavn's Mailbag

I want to be a Community Leader but I don't know where to apply or I applied to be a Community Leader but have not been selected yet, how long do I have to wait?

We have literally thousands of applications for our CL program and continue to add new Community Leaders all the time. Because of the larger number of interested players it can sometimes takes months before you are accepted. Right now we have a cap on the number of applications we accept and unfortunately won't be able to accept any more until we have space. I'll let you know when we open registration open again, until then, we're sorry you're still waiting to be a CL, but we do appreciate your patience.

Will the Quest Kiosk be on sale again?

Yes. Just keep your eyes open early next year when it will go back on sale.

We heard all this talk about Turnstiles — so where are they?

Well, as I've said before we test these items before they are put into the Kingdom — our testing has been going well but we still have a few issues to solve before they go on sale. Unfortunately, you won't see them this year, but you won't have to wait too much longer to get your hands on them.

I went to the parks to get those new VMK Pin Collector Sets but they were sold out! Did I miss my chance to get them?

Not to worry, more pins are on the way. I might suggest you call the Parks before your visit to see if they are in stock.

The new version of the Pirates Of The Caribbean game is great, will we see new versions of the other games?

I'll have news on our next game update very soon!

Thanks for your questions. Well, I think that about wraps things up for this week, I need to get back to finishing the WDW Holiday Quest. Don't forget to watch the Santa Clause DVD so you can win that Cookie Tree! What? You're still here? OK one more bit of news - the Give–A–Gift will be back! I'll have details next week… I'm off to grab a Holiday Churro. (Does anyone know what flavor "Holiday" is anyway?)

See you soon, Yavn

Tips, Tricks Hints and How To's

Get Creative In Your Rooms

With the ride competition quickly approaching, remember, VMK Staff loves to see creative uses of ride pieces when judging rooms.

Did you know you can combine the different ride tracks? You can connect them together in your rooms to make it look like players are going through different environments. Try hiding the transition pieces behind furniture or trees to create the illusion that the ride is going into a different area. What's better than leaving the cold tundra of Everest then sliding down a waterpark slide in sunny, warm VMK?

Try experimenting with drops. All of your pieces don't have to line up perfectly height-wise. You can link uphill pieces to take you up high, then have a sudden drop down to a lower level piece. This looks neat when you alternate the ups and downs to give the riders a bouncing effect.

You've Got Questions, Yeti Has Answers

I love football and I love cartoons! Has Disney ever made any football cartoons?

- CL_Ferriz

Dear CL_Ferriz,

"How to Play Football" was a Goofy cartoon released in 1944. In this cartoon, Goofy and his friends teach you how to play football! Taxidermy Tech and Anthropology A&M go head to head to see who will win this college football battle. To see the final score, check out "Walt Disney Treasures–The Complete Goofy" to find this silly sports cartoon and more from your favorite Goofy guy!

Goofy has made a lot of "How To" cartoons. His first of this series of cartoons were "How to Ride a Horse" and "How to Play Baseball" in the 1940's. He's made over 20 of these informative shorts. Some of his latest you might have seen on the "House of Mouse" include "How to be Groovy, Cool and Fly" and "How to be a Rock Star."

Do you have a question for me?

Send it to me through the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you (the email and information you registered with) and select "Dear Yeti" from the drop down menu. Each week I'll answer a question or two here in the Newsletter.

Push's Trash Trivia Push's Trash Trivia

NewsletterPushtrivia.jpg

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights present by SYLVANIA is a special holiday event held at Disney-MGM Studios featuring millions of dancing lights synchronized to beautiful holiday music.

On which famous US city "street" does this spectacle take place?

Know the answer?

Send your answer using Contact Us at the bottom of this or the main VMK webpage. Be sure to have your VMK registration info with you and select Push's Trash Trivia from the drop down menu. Out of all the correct answers, three players will be randomly drawn as the winners and sent a cool prize. But hurry! Only entries submitted by the close of game on Friday will be accepted.

Here's the answer to last weeks Trash Trivia question:

Q: One actor has been the voice of Donald Duck since the 1940's, this film marks the last time he provided the characters voice, what is it? (Hint: It's the same film that the current voice of Mickey Mouse made his first appearance.)

A: Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)

Did you know: Wayne Allwine (who currently provides the voice for Mickey Mouse) made his vocal debut in Mickey's Christmas Carol (he normally works as a sound editor). Clarence 'Ducky' Nash was the voice of Donald Duck, and voiced Donald for 50 years, Nash also did the voice of Jiminy Cricket. Donald's voice was an impression of Clarence's pet lamb, in fact he was imitating a lamb when Walt Disney heard the voice for the first time on radio.

Congratulations to the 3 lucky (and randomly picked) players that sent in the correct answer for last week's question!
