Choosing a Ship

Ship Selection (Click to Enlarge)

There are three different ships to choose from, the Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman, and Wicked Winch. To change you ship, click the ship icon next to your player's name and the Ship Selection window will appear.

Gameplay Basics

  • Click on the place you want to move to, and your ship will go there. Sometimes you won't be able to go to where you clicked, usually when there's an island blocking your path. The place your ship is headed to is marked by the image of a steering wheel.
  • Double click and cannonballs will go sailing in different directions! Keep blasting the opponent to make them run out of health!
  • You can also use the Left arrow key to fire to Port, and the Right arrow key to fire to Starboard.
  • If your ship has been destroyed, double click it to make it explode and send flames everywhere! It is best to wait for an opponent to get to close so you can get the extra points!
  • Collect stacks of cannons and health crates to restock your cannons and health. Remember, without cannons you can't attack, and without health, you're sunk!

Levels

There are three different levels within the Pirates of the Caribbean game.

Level 1 Level One- Level One is very basic and learning the ropes of the Pirates of the Caribbean game play. The Level One areas show different parts of the caves section of the real Pirates of the Caribbean attraction found at Disney parks.
Level 2 Level Two- Level Two starts to get tricky to maneuver around and about with your ship. The Level Two areas show different parts of the Port City in the real Pirates of the Caribbean attraction found at Disney parks.
Level 3 Level Three- Level Three is the most difficult to steer your ship around. The Level Three areas show different parts of the Burning City in the real Pirates of the Caribbean attraction found at Disney parks.

Ship Battle

  • Ship Battle is all about who has the most booty at the end of each stage. The number on top of the ship indicates how much gold you have on the ship. Every time you shoot the opposing team with a cannon, you get 5 pieces of gold. If you sink the other teams ship, you will get half of whatever they had on board. The rounds are best 2 out of 3. If your team wins the first and second stage, then you don't play the last stage.
  • Only in ship battle are you allowed to have AI-ships which are computer controlled. Although playing with them may help you practice, you will receive a much smaller reward for winning.

Tips and Tricks

Please note that each tip and trick in this list comes after careful playing and examination of the game by DisneysOnlineWorlds editors. This information is opinion based upon user play and experience. Feel free to submit your Tips and Tricks as well.

  • Once the game has begun, go for other ships. Be careful not to waste ammo because sometimes supplies are limited.
  • The best way to sink someone is to enter the "T-Formation." This is when your ship creates the top of the T and the other ship is the stem. Then you can fire a few times, and you will sink the ship.
  • Be sure to trap the other players to take them out.
  • After every shot you fire move out of the way so you can not get hit. Sometimes you sink the ship but before they sink they fire. If this hits you, you may lose all your credits.
  • Sometimes when you are on one side of a rock and your opponent is on the other, ammo will go through the rocks. You may surprise someone and will sink them.
  • It is important to lead your shots. In other words, shoot at where the other ship is going to be when the cannonball gets there, not where it is when you fire.
  • If you and your enemy are in parallel lines, and you are ahead a bit, fire your cannons. If your ship is the Wicked Winch, you usually get a instant shipwreck.
  • When controlling your ship, be sure to fire with your arrow keys instead of using the mouse. Sometimes, when you double click to fire, you end up moving instead of firing.
  • Never stop moving your ship! Keep moving constantly to ensure that you do not get hit by any stray cannons!
  • Always get the barrels whenever they appear close to you, even if your health is full. That way, the other team cannot repair their ships and you have a better chance of sinking them.
  • Be aware when the other team picks up some gold ammo. Gold ammo can sink your ship in one shot. You have to stay away from them when they fire or the game will be over. When you see any gold ammo, get it so the other team can't. You can also use it as bait. When your opponents go to pick up the gold ammo, be in position to ambush them. Unless the other player has no ammo when they pick it up they will not be able to use it immediately because they will have other ammo in line in front of it. While they are still dangerous, they are not as dangerous as when they have the gold ready to go. We have noticed that many players seem to forget this fact and as soon as they get the gold, they seem to think they are unstoppable. You can then move in and attack.
  • Be courteous to other players. They don't sink you because they don't like you, it is part of the game.
  • Give some time for others to pick a ship. You wouldn't like it if someone didn't give you time to change your ship!
  • Make the aim and first priority of your game to collect health and ammo. Blasting cannons should come second, as getting health for yourself is more important!

Capture the Flag

  • First, set up a normal game.
  • Now a pop up will come up it will say "Create Level One Game". Now you see you're title then there is a little square with a skull on it that is to boot a player. Next to that there is a ship icon, click it.
  • Now a third pop up comes out named "Create new game". Here there are three ships: The Black Pearl, The Flying Dutchman, and The Wicked Winch. Choose the boat you want. (The best boat for capture the flag is The Black Pearl because it is the fastest)
  • Once you have chosen your boat click "ok". Now you will go back to the main screen. Wait for all other players to join and then click "start game". Now you have entered the game.
  • If you are the port royal side you have to try and get the flag with the skull on it and run back to your base. Your base will be the one with the cross. If you are on the pirates side you need to try and get the flag with the cross on it and take it back to your side, the side with the skull. The first team to do this wins. Be careful! There are islands that you can get stuck on. Remember to not stand in one place for too long either, the Kraken will appear and harm your ship.

Credits Equations

  • Capture the Flag – To calculate the amount of credits you will receive in a Capture the Flag game, take the total amount of loot your team has obtained (found on bottom right of the screen during gameplay) and divide it by the amount of players on your team. If you win the game, add another 100 onto that amount. That will give you the credit pay-out for Capture the Flag
  • Ship Battle – To calculate the amount of credits you will receive in a Ship Battle game, you find your total loot amount (found on bottom right of the screen during gameplay). If you win the game, add 100 to that amount. That’s the credit payout for Ship Battle.

Bonus Prizes

  • Beginning 2 October 2006, the game awards a 'magic key' pin for winning three games on a given level for a given type of game (ie - Capture the Flag and Ship Battle are counted separately). Winning three games on level one gets you a bronze key, three wins on level two gets a silver key, and three wins on level three gets a gold key. They open chests in the Pirates Treasure Room, which contain either nothing or a random prize.
